Look no further than Board and Brush Portland. Board and Brush is a DIY wood sign workshop franchise, and the Portland location just opened on Division this past May!
Kayla Grami grew up with a love and passion for arts and crafts. She grew up wanting to own a business and was constantly playing around with ideas of what to open. She came across Board and Brush and saw it as the perfect opportunity as Portland did not yet have one. Opening Board and Brush allowed Kayla to combine her dream of owning a business with her love of arts and crafts.
What exactly is Board and Brush? Board and Brush is a DIY workshop where guests create custom wood sign designs with the help of an instructor. With over 400 choices of home decor, every guest will find something to create. From signs and coat racks to clocks, lazy Susans, and so much more! When you walk into Board and Brush you are met with an array of decorations hanging along the wall. These are meant to provide attendees with a bit of inspiration as they are deciding what to make. There are over 700 stains, and the options are endless! Throughout the holiday season, many guests will make seasonal decor, or it is a great way to create a personalized gift for a loved one.
Workshops range in price, the cost is $68 to make a larger piece of decor, of $35 for the smaller decor workshops. There are about 3-4 workshops per week, and you register online for what type of project you would like to create. Wine, beer, coffee, and mimosas are available for purchase. Guests can bring in their own food, so it is the perfect spot to host a fun birthday party or celebration! Kayla says that the workshops are all about the experience. She plays music videos on the TV screens during the workshops and aims to create a relaxing yet fun time for all guests.
Worried that you aren’t artsy enough? Don’t worry! Kayla says the workshop is simple enough no matter your arts and crafts ability. The designs are stenciled and the workshop leaders guide you through the process of distressing, sanding, and guide you through the painting process.
Kayla has loved owning a Board and Brush so far and has had a lot of fun making the space inviting and exciting.
