180 Xurros in Portland

Who doesn’t love something sweet and sugary, especially when that sweet and sugary something is a churro! Portland is now in luck as we can get our churro fix taken to the next level with the new 180 Xurros.

Portland is already obsessed with anything sweet and unique, so it is no wonder that the opening of 180 Xurros & Xocolata has been long anticipated. With lots of conversation before it opened on Instagram, we guessed that the 180 Xurros opening would be big, and we were right! Once it opened, Instagram was a buzz with beautiful photos of 180’s perfect churros, so we got a taste for ourselves.

180 Xurros

180 Xurros & Xocalata is located inside the brand new Hyatt Centric hotel on SW 11th. The hotel itself has a very modern industrial feel, and 180 Xurros & Xocolata goes along with this vibe. It is not its own storefront, but more of a lobby hotel coffee shop, but elevated, if you will. Let’s just say we wish every hotel lobby had a churro shop. With its bright neon lights, friendly employees, delicious churros, and local coffee, this is the spot to go whether you are just in the area, or happen to be staying in the hotel.

180 Xurros is Oregon’s first Xurro shop. Every xurro is handcrafted and made to order which makes them all the more delicious. The name 180 comes from the temperature the xurros are fried to reach the crisp golden color that makes them so delicious. While 180 specializes in their made to order xurros, they also have drinking chocolate that pairs perfectly with your churro platter.

180 believes in quality over quantity, which is why they make all of their products fresh daily in small batches. Everything at the shop is handcrafted in house and they focus on sourcing from the Pacific Northwest first. 180 is also a coffee bar, serving local NEVER coffee, so don’t leave without a delicious handcrafted latte made with local coffee. Fun fact, NEVER Coffee’s storefront is located just around the corner from 180! Their Xocolata is from single-origin chocolate crafted by Blanxart.

They say that Xurros are a communal snack that can create that perfect moment of sweetness. While yes, you can get the classic xurro, you should definitely try taking it up a notch by getting one of the housemade dipping sauces including marshmallow swirl and lemon curd. Get your xurro stuffed with dulce de leche, Nutella, or Caramel & Roasted peanuts. Or try a banado, a longer curved churro covered in dark or white chocolate and house toppings including snickers, cookies & cream, or chocolate sea salt. If you are really feeling exciting, try a xurro ice cream sandwich!
