Wine, Homemade Candles, Flowers, and Fun with Flora Dee Candle Co.

Danielle Director, an event coordinator by day and candle maker extraordinaire by night. Daniel knows how to throw an event, and Danielle knows how to make a beautiful candle and bring people together through events. Danielle started FloraDee Candle Co., a DIY candle pouring workshop, to provide people with a fun experience and custom candle to take home.

Danielle’s most recent workshop took place at Enso Winery, an Urban Winery on Stark Street near Southeast Portland. Guests could order wine at the wine bar and bring it into the large event room full of wine barrels. Once in the event room, you were immediately met with an incredible set-up and you could feel the hard work that was put into the event.

Each seat had a tray set up with the pieces needed to make the candle. Also part of the event was floral arranging featuring local florist Marissa from Revel Petals. After the guests pondered the snack table complete with baguette bread and dipping oil, they found their way to their seats where Danielle explained that one table would start with making floral arrangements and the other would start with candle making. Before anyone went to either station Danielle went through the candle making process.

Two at a time, guests bring their trays up to Danielle’s table. They take soy and wax and stir the two together and once the wax is heated, guests take their wick and place it inside the wax. Danielle has an extensive variety of scents for event attendees to choose from. When Danielle made her practice candle, she created a pumpkin spice scent with her available oils. There is nothing like handpicking your perfect scent and seeing a candle that you took the time to make!

Once done with candle-making, guests then head to the table full of a large variety of flowers. There is a Mason Jar for each guest to then create a floral arrangement to take home with the help of the florist!

Danielle started Flora Dee Candle Co. as a way to unleash her creativity in new ways and bring people together through wine, food, and flowers. Her candle making events take place in various locations, but all include candle making, wine, food, and a night of smiles. Flora Dee Candle Co. events are perfect for girls nights or a mother-daughter activity. Stay up-to-date on all Flora Dee events on Danielle’s Facebook Page.
