Pedal-Powered Smoothies in Portland!

Portland is known to be a city of bikers, but Moberi, Portland-based smoothie shop, took this claim to the extreme. Moberi started as a food cart where customers could pedal-blend their smoothies!

In Spring of 2011, Ryan Carpenter sold his first smoothie outside of his house in Northwest Portland with a bike blender, homemade sink, and cooler of Willamette Valley Produce. Moberi then started as a food cart with acai bowls and bike-power blended smoothies. At the food carts, customers could hop on a bike and pedal-blend your smoothie, or one of the Moberi employees would pedal-blend it.

In May of 2016, Moberi opened their first brick and mortar on SW 5th near Portland State University. Since this brick and mortar opening, Moberi has rapidly expanded and moved away from the food carts and pedal-power to beautiful brick and mortar shops throughout Portland.

Moberi has grown a following for its smoothies and acai bowls. Moberi also serves oatmeal bowls for breakfast, tea, and lattes, and dairy-free soft serve & milkshakes at its Slabtown and Hawthorne location. Their smoothies are handcrafted and are available in a variety of flavors. From fruit-only smoothies to green smoothies with kale and matcha, there is one for every taste bud. Their acai bowls are made with a premium blend of tambor acai, strawberry, banana, and almond milk, and topped to perfection with items like honey, coconut, hemp seeds, bee pollen, and granola. For a different approach to the classic acai bowl try one of their pitaya bowls made with organic dragon fruit.

At Moberi’s Slabtown and Hawthorne shops they introduced dairy-free and gluten-free soft serves made with nuts and superfoods with a variety of topping choices along with vegan milkshakes made with soft serve and oat milk! Everything at Moberi can be made gluten-free or vegan. Next time you are in the mood for a delicious smoothie or bowl, stop by Moberi on Mississippi, Downtown, Slabtown, or Hawthorne. Be sure to sign up for their email list where they tend to send coupons for specific menu items. Moberi is a great way to fuel a healthy lifestyle!
