Healthy Eating in Portland

It’s January which means people are working on their resolutions, going to the gym, and eating healthy. Eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t eat out! Portland has a variety of healthy options for dining out, and we have put a list together for you!

Laughing Planet

Laughing Planet is a quick-service restaurant that offers nutritious and affordable meals. From burritos and bowls to soups, salads, and smoothies, each item on the Laughing Planet menu is delicious and full of healthy ingredients. With their quirky ambiance, friendly employees, and food made with local ingredients, you can’t go wrong. Dishes can be made to accommodate vegan, paleo, gluten-free, omnivore, and just about any other diet! Laughing Planet also gives back to local non-profits, and has a kids menu!

Harlow

Harlow is a Portland favorite when it comes to healthy cuisine. Established in 2013, Harlow’s menu is entirely gluten-free and plant-based. Harlow is located on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard with breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, and mocktails! The environment is friendly and inviting, and there are a variety of large tables as well as some outdoor seating when the sun comes out! Blossoming Lotus

Blossoming Lotus serves freshly made, mostly organic, locally sourced, 100% plant-based menu items. Located in the Irvington District, Blossoming Lotus is a great place to try delicious plant-based and meat-free dishes! They offer seasonal selections, have gluten-free options, and even have a full bar! Blossoming Lotus serves, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and menu items range from Live Nachos with Spicy Live Chips and vegan nacho cheese sauce to Bibimbap and tempeh chorizo tacos.

The Whole Bowl

The Whole Bowl started as a food cart in Portland, Oregon, and now they have 12 locations in 4 states! They are on a mission to build a healthier community and want to connect people to real food. They want real food to be accessible and convenient for everyone. Their team makes food from scratch, they use fresh ingredients and produce delivered that morning. The Whole Bowl serves one item, their signature bowl made with brown rice, black beans, red beans, avocado, cilantro, black olives, Tillamook cheddar, sour cream, salsa, and their signature Tali sauce. It comes in two sizes, bambino and big, and any bowl can be veganized. They have 9 locations around Portland, many being carts, so seating can be limited.

Garden Bar

Garden Bar was established in 2014 in Portland and is the place in Portland for fresh, healthy, and delicious handcrafted salads. They want to make healthy eating on the go better and make everyone fall in love with salad. Garden Bar has a menu of suggested salad combinations, or you can create your own. You even get to watch them as they put in each fruit, veggie, meat, cheese, plant-based protein, whole grain, nut, seed, or any other topping you may want, as well as a variety of housemade dressings. Garden Bar locations are all sparkling clean and the food is fresh and delicious! With 9 locations ranging from Lake Oswego to Division, there seems to be a Garden Bar no matter where you are in Portland, so an amazing salad is always available at your fingertips!
