The Hoxton: A Slice of Paradise in the Heart of Old Town Chinatown

Nestled in the heart of Portland’s historic Old Town Chinatown district is a gem of a hotel. With 119 unique rooms, 3 restaurants/bars, a coffee shop, and incredible customer service, this hotel is a place for Portlanders and non-Portlander’s alike.

When you first walk into The Hoxton you are met with a modern and comfortable lobby. Unlike hotel lobbies where you feel like you shouldn’t be walking in if you are not a guest, this lobby is welcoming to all. People come to The Hoxton to have a cup of coffee and work, or just grab a quick drink with friends.

Walking into the hotel, on the left, there is a coffee shop to the right that serves Proud Mary Coffee and specialty drinks including an espresso mule and a honey lavender iced latte. This space also serves veggie and bacon breakfast burritos, so if you need a quick breakfast and coffee fix, this is a great stop for hotel guests and visitors. Sit down in the cozy lobby and enjoy a slow morning accompanied with breakfast and coffee.

Another unique aspect of the lobby is the shop. Rather than the typical hotel lobby shop filled with snacks and travel necessities, the Hoxton sells an assortment of exclusive, handmade Portland products. The products sold are exclusively in The Hoxton. From handmade beanies to ceramic mugs, each item has a piece of cardstock next to it with an image of the maker and a map of where the product is made in Portland. When staying at the Hoxton, the Hox Shop is a great place to grab a beautiful Portland souvenir. The Hox Shop is also a great place for Portland locals to get gifts.

The rooms of the Hoxton are modern yet comfortable. There are four sizes of rooms, shoebox, snug, cozy and roomy, which means there is a size of room for every stay. With each room, there is free wifi, fresh milk, and water, and some are even dog-friendly! For $10 an hour, you can check out late. One of the best parts of staying at The Hoxton? The free breakfast bag. On the outside of each room is a small hook. Inside the room, there is a small paper bag that says “the little breakfast”. Hang it on the hook before you go to sleep, and in the morning it will be full of small breakfast items.

The Hoxton prides itself on being just a little bit different than other hotels. They want to accommodate guests in any way they can and make their stays special. The Hoxton puts a special touch on everything.

Now for the food. The options are definitely not limited with 3 amazing restaurant & bar choices. Starting on the bottom is The Basement Bar. It is a secret basement bar that is similar to a speakeasy. The Basement bar serves creative cocktails and late-night American Chinese food. In the lobby is the brand new Lovely Rita. Serving breakfast until 3 along with entrees and appetizers that have a Latin American inspiration.
