Legit Tacos in Portland

Portland loves its tacos, that’s no secret. We have narrowed down our list to the most legit taco spots in PDX for you to enjoy your next taco Tuesday (or any day really.)

Por Que No

Por Que No is definitely a crowd favorite throughout Portland. If you ask around, most people have stood in a Por Que No line to get some of the absolute best Portland tacos. With two locations, one on SE Hawthorne and one on N Mississippi, you can enjoy Por Que No in two of Portland’s most fun locations. Por Que No is known for the eclectic decor, incredible handcrafted margaritas (the hibiscus is a must!), and of course their tacos! They are open about where their ingredients are sourced and have the perfect amount of taco options, we recommend trying their famous Bryan’s Bowl to switch it up. Definitely be prepared to stand in line, especially on warmer days!

Stella Taco

Stella Taco opened in the summer of 2014 with their Barbacoa tacos, crispy pork chicharrones, and frozen margaritas. Stella Taco is an Austin style, fast-casual Mexican street food eatery. The space on SE Division is full of bright colors and decorations and is the perfect spot to go after taking a walk around the area. They serve breakfast tacos all day including migas and steak and egg, classic tacos, Texas-style tacos, and bowls! They also serve nachos covered in green chile queso and have a fun margarita menu. Happy hour runs Monday-Friday from 3PM-6PM, and on Monday’s you can get all-you-can-eat nachos for just $15!

Tight Tacos

Tight Tacos serves authentic Mexican street tacos using handmade tortillas and scratch marinated meats that come from their family recipes! The 100% gluten-free corn tortillas are hand-pressed before every order. Along with their tacos, they have a large selection of beers, ciders, and spirits, because what is a taco without an ice cold beer or margarita!? They like to think of their tacos as Instagrammable, so head to Tight Tacos on NE Sandy to grab delicious tacos and your next best Instagram pic. Their new second location will be opening soon!

Tacovore

Tacovore is a Eugene based taco shop that opened in Portland on Fremont last year. Tacovore is known for its 11 tacos, four are meat-free and three of them are vegan. The whole menu is gluten-free and the tortillas can be swapped with butter lettuce if you want a low carb option. Tacovore is a great option for kids with its grilled cheese tacos. The tacos are loaded, topped with slaws, cremas, and pickled veggies. Along with tacos they have bowls and salads, as well as an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They work with farmers, ranchers, producers, and vendors in Portland, and serve the freshest and tastiest food possible!

Matt’s BBQ Tacos

Different than your average tacos, Matt’s BBQ Tacos are made with legit BBQ meats like brisket and sliced pork belly. For all you vegetarians out there they have you covered with their pulled pork slawco, a taco made with coleslaw and crushed tortilla chips. Matt’s BBQ Tacos is also different in that you can also get BBQ sandwiches. They also serve breakfast Wednesday through Sunday from 8AM - 11AM, and are known for their Migas. Matt’s BBQ Tacos is a food cart with an ample amount of seating, including covered seating, so your tacos can be enjoyed rain or shine!
